Strength of
Hereford Youth
This photo by Jimmy Paterson, aged 6, made it to the finals of the NZ Hereford Youth photo competition.
Words: Rebecca Paterson
hat an exciting year 2021 has been for NZ
Hereford Youth – the inaugural NZ Hereford
Youth Development Forum was held with
great success, followed by a successful online
Wjudging competition and photo competition.
With the many challenges that faced us over the past 12
months, it has been great to run successful events our
young people can get involved with. The NZ Hereford Youth
network is growing and developing with many new members
and initiatives; it is wonderful to see many youth members
succeed in so many areas.
Congratulations to all Hereford Youth members on their
successes over the past 12 months. Hereford Youth flew the
NZ Hereford flag high at Future Beef New Zealand: well done
to Ella McWilliam for winning Champion Steer on the Hoof
and Champion Handler, and also Hillary Cooper and Elizabeth
Cooper on their successes. The Royal Agricultural Society’s
(RAS) national stock judging finals were held at the Oxford
A&P Show in April. Congratulations to Lisa Bonenkamp for
winning the beef section; she will now represent New Zealand
in Australia.
