HORIZON HEREFORDS
After a very muddy and wet calving season we held our first yearling bull sale, which
went well. With the addition of a small lease block we have also retained 14 bulls so
we can sell both yearling and 2-year-old bulls next year. However, our biggest win for
the year was finding this wee fellow fully submerged in a hole with his mother standing
over him… Now look at him three months later!

TAWANUI HEREFORDS
It has been an exciting year for Tawanui Herefords. Our 2017 highlights must include
the sale of our pick of the drop heifer, Tawanui Bella Angel, who made the big trip down
south to Kane Farms, as well as our annual on farm bull sales where our top priced
bull, Tawanui Ace, was sold to Rodney Jupp Hurstpier Herefords, for $13,500. Another
wee win for us was the opportunity to buy this year’s herd sire Okawa Mashall from Pip
Robinson and Kokonga Herefords.

MANGAOTEA HEREFORDS
We are very excited about the new Matariki bloodline coming through into our
herd this year. Along with our Steak of Origin success, 2017 has been a great
year for Mangaotea.

WISBARIDGE HEREFORDS
Despite the wet and then terribly dry season, we are pleased with the quality calves
our cows have produced this year.
