ROZLYN “ROZ” STOKES
LEES VALLEY POLLED HEREFORDS
OXFORD
Hi, I’m Roz Stokes. I was brought up in Lees Valley and just a
year ago I moved out to run a family sheep and beef farm. The
farm is 120 hectares, with irrigation.
I have my own stud of 25 cows, which works in with
Richon Herefords. We are also share farming with Beechwood
Herefords. I would like to get up to 30 to 40 cows in time. I
bought my first cow at expo in 2009. My stud is Lees Valley
Herefords.
I am looking forward to attending Beef Week Australia in
Rockhampton to see how they market their stock. It would be
interesting to see what clients they are dealing with, different
from us, and networking with other Australian breeders.
The one thing I want to take away from the trip is to make
good friends with other Hereford breeders. I am excited to go to
a huge beef expo in Australia to experience it.
SAM TIPPING
KAMARO HEREFORDS
OTOROHANGA
Hi there, I am Sam Tipping of Kamaro Hereford Stud. The stud
started in 2013 and has slowly grown its numbers, as well as its
genetics. Focus of the stud is producing a top quality yearling
bull that is aimed at the dairy industry, with excellent carcase
quality characteristics.
I completed a Bachelor of Agriscience majoring in Agriculture
in 2016, which put me in good stead for my current role as an
Agribusiness Partner with BNZ. I have been with BNZ nearly 12
months and have really enjoyed meeting and mixing with some
excellent operators in New Zealand’s agricultural industry.
I am one of the team that has been selected to help coordinate
the youth side of the 2020 World Hereford Conference and
have recently been selected as treasurer for Future Beef NZ.
I attended the Tech Tour in 2016 that ventured to Managuraki
Cattle Co.
I am looking forward to the sheer size of the event at Beef
Week Australia! I have never experienced anything like what we
will, and am looking forward to all the different components tied
in to the trip, brought together by the appreciation we all have
for the bovine.
This trip will expose me to so much. I really enjoy meeting
people within the agriculture industry and hopefully from the trip
we will be able to use those networks later on to benefit each
other in some shape or form.
