Willy Muir What can I say - the start of 2022 has been a
Laurie Paterson (HP) disheartening one for the office but nothing we didn’t
Andrew Russo expect. Both Christine and I are fully supportive of
Philip Shepherd the Allflex Herd tour committee’s decision to postpone
for another year, and I feel very fortunate that NZ
Herefords are backed by such dedicated sponsors who
are completely understanding of the decision and
are all willing to roll over their support to 2023. That
says a lot about the relationship many of you have
with them. For myself, I feel it’s one more opportunity
where I miss out on seeing cattle and hearing your
views about the association and catching up on your
important breeding plans and ideas for the future. So
please make sure you ‘virtually’ stay in touch and pick
up the phone anytime you want a chat.
On a brighter note, I am very excited about the involvement
of two highly motivated, skilled and very passionate agricultural
women who will help drive our marketing message. You can read
Editor: Posy Moody, NZH all about Becks and Ani on page 9. Ani has created NZ Hereford

a “Member of the Month”, each month. Let us know if there is

Email: office@herefords.co.nz We are also pleased to inform you of the updated Boehringer
Ingelheim Benchmark awards, which the technical committee
have been working on since October, see page 8. The other
excitement in the office is the magazine which is nearly ready for
the first proof. If it’s possible, I believe this year’s edition could be
www.herefords.co.nz even better than last year’s – it certainly captures how wonderful
Herefords are across diverse farming systems and introduces us
www.herefordprime.co.nz to some great Hereford personalities.
At this stage the council are optimistic we can run the
National Seed Stock sale replicating last year’s format of a hybrid
event with the option of buying via a telephone bid or being
present. So please support the event and contact your agent to
www.facebook.com/nzherefords help identify the next NZ Herefords Seed Stock Champion (see
entry form
