Experience of a lifetime
Many Hereford studs have celebrated 50 sales, but how many stud founders
have stepped into the sale ring 50 times? Ray McEvoy is planning to do
just that, aged 92, at his Moana Hereford Stud in Northland on 6 July, 2021.
Ray established the stud in the 1960s and has enjoyed his Hereford cattle
ever since, breeding stock for high milking ability and huge growth rates
from day one. Fifty sales later that philosophy hasn’t changed. When asked
about retirement he replies, “I have no plans. I’m just happy to keep going,
God willing.”
Well done on a good innings in the Hereford sale ring, Ray.
