Semen Marketing of Hooked on Herefords, Colin Corney (President) and
Andrew Russo (Chair) Gray Pannett (Vice President) came to Feilding to hold
Philip Shepherd, Robert staff reviews and host a Zoom Council meeting.
Kane
Registry Andrew Russo (Chair) It’s always good to see councilors and breeder’s mid winter, as
Chris Jeffries ‘outside’ contact tends to die down. So, if you are in Feilding
PBB Philip Shepherd please pop in and say ‘Hi’ to Christine or I …….. and grab a box of
Beef Holdings magazines while you are here! It’s become clear to us that less
Colin Corney breeders are requesting boxes of magazine to be distributed at
their sales, which means we end up having to dispose of boxes
at the end of the year. Please remember, Hereford magazines
are a great marketing tool as they include ‘good news’ on-farm
stories, and technical articles which spell out the benefits of
Herefords. It might be worth considering sending one to each of
your client’s next year. Unless we get the feeling from breeders
Editor: Posy Moody, NZH otherwise, we will look at reducing the print run for the 2021
Address: PO Box 503, Feilding 4740 magazine, so if you do have thoughts on the magazine please
Phone: 06 323 4484 let us know. Perhaps you don’t see it’s worth as you have done in
previous years, due to the accessibility of on-line material?
DDI: 06 323 0745 You can read the summary of the Zoom council meeting
Fax: 06 323 3878 in Council Communications on page 6. Zoom worked well
Email: office@herefords.co.nz considering rural broadband limitations, however it certainly
won’t replace the face to face meetings as it does restrict the
ability to discuss issues (as well as restricting the banter).
The next council meeting is being held in Feilding on the
2nd and 3th November along with a small celebratory WHC
www.herefords.co.nz dinner in particular to thank sponsors. Sponsorship makes up
www.herefordprime.co.nz a considerable portion of the NZ Herefords income and it’s this
time of year that many of them review their contracts. I strongly
urge you to support the five NZ Hereford Premier sponsors
when you can; Boehringer Ingelheim, PGG Wrightson, AON Agri,
Datamars and Honda Blue Wing. It has been disappointing to
www.facebook.com/nzherefords see how many sales have been exclusively given to an opposition
insurance company this year. Whilst council would never dictate
who you do business with, we do ask that you consider the
Hereford sponsors and at least give them an opportunity to
match their terms, or explain the differences.
The last couple of months has been a good time for both
Christine and I to take a bit of leave, as well as roll out the new
brand and update the rule book (see summary on page 7). The
next major task is to deliver a “New Member Pack” and update the
