THE DOW AGRO NATIONAL HEREFORD Herd tour, hosted by
the Taranaki Hereford Association, was held in March 2017.
It was a fantastic combination of herd walks, iconic scenery,
sunshine, friendship and food. The tour itself stretched across
Taranaki, from the hidden treasure of Bexley Station to the
remote and isolated back blocks of Aotuhia Station, where we
travelled a farm track (not for the fainthearted) to 1100ft above
sea level for an unforgettable view and an appreciation for the
settlers who farmed the land before us.
As well as herd walks, the tour encompassed local beer tasting,
country pub hospitality, a tour of Wheelers racing stables and a
detoured bus trip through Robin and Jacqueline Blackwell’s farm.
The tour concluded with a top class meal, followed by a very
profitable Youth Ambassador Auction, and a band to kick up
your heels for a good old hoedown.
The Taranaki Hereford Association and its members were
delighted to have the opportunity to showcase their little slice
of paradise. The tour was well supported and was a great
opportunity to meet new people and catch up with old friends.
A huge thank you to all our sponsors and all those who
          supported the 2017 herd tour.
