- What is your bull name and herd-book number?
- A Super Sire space has been booked. This must be done before December 1 of the previous year. Book directly with Mike Langtry (North) or Rebbeca McConochie (South).
- Bull is born on or after June 1, two years prior to the targeted Beef Expo.
- Birth weight submitted.
- Calving Ease score submitted.
- 200-day weight submitted.
- Bull must be polled or dehorned
- 400-day weight submitted.
- Scrotal circumference submitted.
- Eye muscle area measurement submitted.
- Rib and rump fat measurement submitted.
- All of the above measurements must be taken while Super Sire bull is in a mob (contemporary group) of no less than 20 bulls. Note that this eliminates embryo transplant progeny, twins and other special examples.
- DNA sample has been submitted.
- BVD antigen test negative – Certificate required with this application.
- BVD vaccination and booster administered.
- All of the above procedures must be completed before Super Sire bull commences mating.
- Super Sire bull must be mated with a minimum of 20 females (10 must be registered) for two cycles, and must achieve a conception rate exceeding 75%.
- Vet or Technician verification of pregnancy test should be lodged with committee by March 1st. This must include pregnancy numbers (number registered heifers and commercial heifers), pregnancy percentage and mating dates.
- Appropriate Animal Health Board primary and secondary identification tags are in the bulls ears. In the absence of tattoos, these tags must satisfy NZHA rules (both must have the bulls ID number). An AHB replacement tag must also accompany bull
- If Super Sire bull is from an AHB Movement Control Area, a clear T.B. test must be performed prior to movement to the Super Sire farm. Test certificate must accompany a completed AHB card.
- All Super Sire bulls must have a completed Animal Health Board card escorting them to the Super Sire farm. Please include recent treatment and drench history and withholding periods.
- Insurance (optional) to be arranged by vendor. The Super Sire farms take all care but no responsibility for your bull.
- All Super Sire bulls must arrive at the Super Sire farm within the denoted 24 hour period.
- All bulls and vendors agree to comply with each Super Sire Groups majority consensus regarding compliance, grazing payment, Expo entry and marketing. Each group will have additional requirements. A vendor meeting and bull inspection will be held in February/March.
