The South Auckland Hereford Club extend a very warm welcome.
Do come join us and enjoy our hospitality

Based at the
GLENVIEW INTERNATIONAL HOTEL & CONFERENCE CENTRE
254 OHAUPO ROAD, GLENVIEW, HAMILTON

On day one you will travel through the rugged King Country, where the Hereford breed played a major part in crushing the scrub and developing the land. Here, legendary “Pinetree” Meads did his All Black training by cutting scrub on steep hill country! This area was traditionally the heart of sheep and cattle country in the North Island, and home to other great legends, John Fagan, the world shearing champion, and David Bolstad, the champion axesman. They breed ‘em tough in the King Country!

The next day takes us to the Central Volcanic Plateau, with it’s hot bed of volcanic activity. The development of this area occurred mostly after WWII, so still has the freshness of recent development. Modern farming methods, trace elements and fertiliser have transformed this once barren land into thriving valuable farmland. Follow the story of this development at “The Caterpillar Experience”.

The third day you will experience the mid-west an area with diversity of contour and land use. With beef & dairy cattle, thoroughbreds, goats and deer, horticulture, and major AI centres, it is a genetic frontier for our region.

We have rooms reserved after the tour at the Glenview International
Hotel, at our special conference rate for people wishing to stay on. Prior to the tour rooms can be reserved at the Airport Motor Inn, which we have also booked for the tour if numbers exceed the capacity of the Glenview.

The tour is located in the heart of a thriving tourist area so why not spend a few days before and after the ASB BANK FRONTIER HEREFORD TOUR 2008 and visit some of the regions scenic attractions?

Just a few of the many are:
- Limestone caves and glow worms at Waitomo,
- Natural Limestone Bridge & Marokopa Falls both west of Waitomo,
- Geothermal activity in and around Rotorua,
- Remnants of ‘Hobbiton’ at Matamata,

If you want some action and adventure then you’ll find Black water rafting, horse treks, jet boating, big game fishing, rock climbing to name a few. And you could visit the corrugated iron, kiwiana, rose and shearing capitals of New Zealand.
