Becoming an NZHA Member

Thinking of becoming a Hereford breeder and a member of one of the largest cattle breed societies in New Zealand? Once a registered breeder, you will enjoy the many benefits available to members. The basic requirements for joining the Society as a stud breeder are simple.

Anyone intending to breed registered Hereford Cattle, needs to be nominated by two existing Hereford breeders. Acceptance of the proposal and prefix by the NZHA Council ensures a full breeding membership. The herd name (prefix), chosen by the breeders and a herd number (allocated by the Association), are the means of uniquely identifying each herd and animal within that herd. Registered stock are those that can be transferred into the Society's records and may be bulls, cows, heifers or calves.

The Association provides for the following memberships:

- Full Membership: Available to any person over the age of 25 years.
- Youth Membership: Provided for those under 25 years of age. There are no requirements to own cattle but provision is there to register progeny if required.
- Associate Membership: Associate members are entitled to membership privileges other than registering cattle, holding office and voting.
- Overseas Membership: Overseas members are entitked to the same rights as associate members.

If you would like more information, please contact the NZHA office.
